Thursday 2nd October 2008 saw the presentation of the Certificate for the CAMRA Greater London Regional Pub of the Year 2008 to David Norman and Karen Wood of the Trafalgar in Merton. The presentation party was made up of Martin Whelton, the Mayor of Merton; Robert Evans, the MEP for West London and Stephen Hammond, the MP for Wimbledon. CAMRA was represented by Steve Williams, CAMRA London Regional Director (in the red shirt) and CAMRA SW London branch Chairman Martin Butler (far left).

Steve Williams said, David and Karen have done a superb job in making the Traf a community pub where everyone is welcome. A tiny pub in a back street, it’s the sort of place that London is increasingly losing nowadays. Up to six beers, including a house beer brewed just outside London, are delivered through beautiful old handpumps and there is still the public bar with its darts board. But that doesn’t mean it’s dated; as well as jazz on Sunday afternoons and a range of other live music, there are televised sports and even Wifi facilities. We are really pleased to give the award to such a wonderful pub.

The Pub featured on the cover of the October/November 2008 edition of the London Drinker Magazine.
