The founders of Balham based micro Belleville Brewery avoided having to change the name of their brewery after successful discussions with the world's largest drinks company, the giant multi-national Anheuser-Busch InBev.

It was feared that a name change for Belleville Brewery might be necessary after it received a letter from lawyers acting on behalf of AB-InBev which stated that the Belleville named beers could easily be confused with the Belle-Vue Belgian Lambic fruit beer brewed by Anheuser-Busch InBev and as such it called for the micro brewery to stop using the name Belleville or it would face action in the courts.

The Belleville Brewery Twitter feed @BellevilleBrew posted this Tweet at 22:17 on 11 July 2013 which confirmed the successful conclusion of the discussions.

The small brewery was named originally after the local Belleville Primary School which is attended by the children of each of the brewery's ten 'founding fathers'.

Currently Belleville brews Six American influenced Beers of varying styles, with strengths ranging from 4.2% ABV to 5.7% ABV.
