PUBS OF WIMBLEDON VILLAGE
PUBS OF WIMBLEDON VILLAGE (PAST & PRESENT) by Clive Whichelow was originally published in 1998 and quickly sold out its first print run. It was reprinted, sold out again, and has remained out of print ever since. Now, following demand from local shops, museums etc, and the fact that original copies are now changing hands on the internet for over £100 each the book has been reprinted again. It looks at the history of the eight existing Wimbledon Village pubs (there were nine when the book was first published) plus another dozen that have been and gone over the centuries including the Beehive, Jolly Butchers and Rising Sun. Tales include people from poets to prize-fighters and from racing drivers to royalty, plus of course the occasional ghost.
It is available from local bookshops, museums and libraries priced £3.95. Or order direct from enigmapublishing.co.uk.
